On 18 October 2021, human rights defender Luis Alfonso Narváez Escoba was attacked and killed in his home by armed men in Colombia. He was actively resisting mining and energy projects in the Cauca region. He was also the coordinator of the Victims' Table, the Peasant Movement of Coca, Poppy, and Marijuana Growers (Coccam), and the governor of the Indigenous community of Santa Bárbara.
