Mexico: Communities demand Newmont Goldcorp leave their territories due to negative impacts of the mine; the company responds

Communities living close to the Peñasquito Mine, property of Newmont Goldcorp, in the state of Zacatecas, demand that the mining company leave their territories for the negative impacts that it has caused on the health of the population and the environment.  According to studies, the population has suffered different illnesses related to the environmental pollution caused by the mine and have also denounced impacts on their houses by the explosions in the mine as well as health impacts for their animals.  The Business and Human Rights Resource Centre contacted Newmont Goldcorp, their response can be found below.
