Myanmar: Garment workers forced to work late overtime shifts or face wage deductions & dismissal; incl. co. responses
In August 2024, it was reported that workers at Bohua Fashion are facing a series of violations, including workers being dismissed or having their wages cut for refusing to work overtime, workers not permitted to leave the factory if they are feeling unwell, workers not eating after overtime shifts because the markets are closed and the electricity goes out when they return home, day labourers denied permanent contracts despite working for nearly a year, underage workers forced to work at the same level as adult workers, workers not permitted to eat because the space in the factory is cramped, the security guards being rude towards workers.
In December 2024, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Teddy Group (for Calliope), LPP S.A (for Reserved) and Minoti to respond. LPP and Minoti responded. Teddy Group did not.
