Myanmar: Thirty-nine union members' houses burned down by military troops in Salingyi Township

"IWFM members' homes were burned by the military council in Sal Lingyi", 6 December 2022

According to a member of the IWFM, the houses of the members of the Industrial Workers' Federation Myanmar (IWFM) were burned down by the military council in Sal Lingyi Township, Sagaing Division.

Last December 1st, when the military council troops attacked and destroyed the villages on the banks of the Chindin River in the eastern part of Sarlin Township, 39 houses of IWFM members in 4 villages were burned.

It is said that the IWFM members whose houses were burned were from the No. 6 Cotton and Textile Factory in Sal Lingyi.

"There are 39 houses from 4 villages in total. We are members of CDM...The troop took those CDM lists and burned down from house to house. The army has been burning houses in this Sarlin for a long time. If you add up the houses of the people, it's a lot," a labor leader who is a member of the IWFM told CJ Platform.

This is the second time that the homes of IWFM members have been burned in Sarlingyi Township. Previously, 4 homes of IWFM members were destroyed by the hands of the military council.
