Myanmar: Trade unions & labour organisations joint statement against the attempted military coup

"The joint statement of the labor federation and partners on the current state of the country", 1 February 2021

  1. We, as workers, have already voted for the party representatives that we believe in during the 2020 multi-party democratic elections
  2. We, as workers, trustfully expect and support the new government, new Parliament that are born in accordance with the 2020 election results
  3. We strongly oppose and condemn the coup that brings the democratic system backwards
  4. Thus, we profoundly encourage to release the detained public-elected representatives and personnel, and a peaceful meeting and discussion among the respective political and military leaders to find the solution
