On 17 March 2021, the Roundtable "Human rights due diligence in Mexico: From discussion to action" addressed the presentation of the report "Human rights due diligence and compliance processes", prepared by the Institute of Human Rights and Business of the University of Monterrey, in coordination with the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre, and Oxfam Mexico.

The research analyses how corporate compliance processes have been adjusted to the anti-corruption legal framework, and how they could be adapted to strengthen compliance with human rights corporate obligations. Funded by the "Responsible Business Conduct in Latin America and the Caribbean (RBCLAC)" Project Fund, and drafted by Humberto Cantú Rivera (PhD) and Laura Esparza García (LL.M), the study is published in a complex political and economic environment, in which governmental and corporate responses to the COVID-19 pandemic will have considerable impact on peoples' lives. Also, voluntary measures adopted by companies to improve their human rights performance have been significantly insufficient so far.

The presentation was followed by a high-level discussion roundtable with representatives from civil society, government, international organisations, academia, trade unions, affected communities, and companies.

More details of the event here (in Spanish).

The report was also presented on 24 March, 2021 at the Third Colloquium on Corporate Responsibility and Human Rights, organised by the Institute of Human Rights and Business of the University of Monterrey (UDEM).
