New report sounds alarm over Russian military’s reliance on Western-made components in its war against Ukraine & urgent need to restrict continued supply; incl. co. responses & non-responses

A new report prepared by the International Partnership for Human Rights (IPHR), the Independent Anti-Corruption Commission (NAKO), Truth Hounds, and Global Diligence LLP, has found that Russian forces have used Iranian-made Shahed-136 UAVs that contain Western components to commit suspected war crimes in Ukraine.

The authors of the report have found variety of components manufactured by American, Japanese, Canadian, and Swiss companies, ranging from microprocessors and semiconductors to ethernet transceivers and memory, in multiple Shahed-136 fuselages.

Business and Human Rights Resource Centre invited 9 out of 16 companies mentioned in the report to respond to the allegations (those whose comments were not included). International Rectifier (part of Infineon), Micron Technology, STMicroelectronics and Murata responded. Hemisphere GNSS, Hitec Group USA, ON Semiconductor, Adesto Technologies and MinMax Technology did not.
