"Open Letter to UNFCCC and Brazilian COP30 Leadership To Address Fossil Fuel Lobby Influence", 18 March 2025
An open letter led by Transparency International, and signed by over 260 civil society organizations, including the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre, calls on the Brazilian COP30 Presidency and the UNFCCC to address fossil fuel lobby influence in climate negotiations. The letter urges the adoption of a conflict-of-interest policy, stricter transparency standards, and reforms to COP presidency selection. It also calls for ethical standards in host country agreements and corporate partnerships. The coalition emphasizes that without these measures, COP risks being undermined by polluters, threatening global climate progress. The signatories demand urgent action to restore trust and integrity.
