Groupe Forrest International has read the Amnesty International report regarding the incidents of Kawama on 24 and 25 November 2009. It notes that despite the inclusion of new elements such as analyses of satellite images, Amnesty provides no new evidence about these events, regarding which the absence of responsibility of the Forrest Group and its subsidiaries has already been demonstrated, both in their planning and in their implementation. The events of November 2009 in Kawama are regrettable and unacceptable but are not due to actions of the Forrest Group. They shocked the managers and workers of the Forrest Group. This has already been stated several times...Groupe Forrest International strongly condemns the violence of the police operations at Kawama in November 2009. The managers and workers of our Group had no responsibility in the planning and conduct of these events...The company took part in the investigation carried out by the Congolese judicial authorities. This investigation did not lead to any blame being attributed to CMSK, its subcontractors or its staff...The Forrest Group has continued its activities to support the village of Kawama (maternity, health clinic, access to water, school etc.). This social commitment is made in collaboration with the local authorities on each of the sites where the Group operates.
