Six fossil fuel companies & industry trade associations called to testify before Congress on alleged role in climate disinformation

"Big Oil's 'Slippery Six' to Testify Before Congress on Oct. 28," Sept. 2021

The U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Reform is asking the executives of six major fossil fuel companies , and trade associations to testify ... about their companies’ role in a “long-running, industry-wide campaign to spread disinformation about the role of fossil fuels in causing global warming.”

The hearing, part of a wider Congressional investigation into climate disinformation, could be a watershed moment for holding the fossil fuel industry accountable for causing and lying about the climate crisis, similar to when the “Seven Dwarves” of Big Tobacco were forced to answer questions from Congress in a televised 1994 hearing — and were caught lying under oath.

... The fossil fuel industry’s campaign of deception lies at the heart of the growing number of lawsuits brought by states and municipalities across the country to hold many of these same companies accountable for lying about the role their fossil fuel products play in causing  climate change.
