On September 7, 2020, Mr. Tha Lavy, a member of the environmental group Khmer Thavrak, was arrested by Phnom Penh police and charged while stepping out of a tuk-tuk at Phnom Penh’s Freedom Park on his way to a peaceful assembly organised to demand the release of labour rights activist and trade union leader Mr. Rong Chhun and other imprisoned human rights defenders, which was eventually prevented by police.
