Thailand: Family of Myanmar migrant worker compensated by employer after workers' death at Bellcon co. construction site

…The employer has paid initial compensation and wages of THB107,536 to the family of a Myanmar migrant worker who died in an accident at a construction site in Thailand, the Labour Attache Office announced.
Maung Naing Lin Aung, who worked at a construction site of Bellcon Co Ltd in Bangkok through the Myanmar agency Success Family Co Ltd under the MoU system, died in a work accident on 29 February 2024. The deceased’s family came to the Labour Attache Office on 2 December 2024 to request assistance.
The Labour Office liaised with the relevant Social Security Office in Thailand (Pakan Sankul) and helped bring the deceased’s mother to Thailand as soon as possible to receive the lump sum benefit under the Thai Social Security Law.
The employer provided the deceased’s family with a first lump sum benefit of THB100,000, the remaining wages of THB7,536, and a total of THB107,536. The deceased’s family will be provided with the THB743,454.74 that will be paid in pursuit of the law, the office said…
