USA: Boston co. Stash's Pizza owner sentenced for forced labour & physical & verbal abuse of undocumented workers, incl. workers from North Africa

In March 2023, it was reported that the owner of Boston pizza chain, Stash’s Pizza, was indicted on forced labour charges after he forced employees to work under the threat of deportation.

The owner was arrested after allegations of abuse over the past decade emerged, after the owner violated the rights of undocumented migrants, including five men and one woman, including by making them work for long hours, six or seven days a week, for under the minimum wage. He was charged with forced labour and verbal and physical abuse.

In November 2024, it was reported by HuffPost that the owner was found guilty and sentenced to over eight years in prison. He will be required to pay a USD 35,000 fine after his release.
