USA: CSO report alleges that Facebook fails to stop anti-abortion disinformation addressed to Spanish-speaking communities

On May 2022, the civil society organization NARAL Pro-Choice America launched the report "Translating Abortion Disinformation: The Spanish-Language Anti-Choice Landscape", which exposed the anti-choice movement’s use of disinformation to attack abortion access and reproductive freedom on Facebook and the impact on Spanish-speaking communities in the United States. According to the report anti-choice pages on Facebook largely promote the same messages and disinformation about abortion to Spanish-speaking communities with little to no intervention by the social media company to remove or check those contents.

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Meta to respond to this allegation. The company did respond.
