USA: Truck drivers face plummeting pay, higher risk amid Covid-19 pandemic

Truck drivers fear being stranded across state lines as the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) spreads across the US. Truckers have requested increased protections, including masks, as they face high exposure risk. Meanwhile, pay rates have decreased. 

Truckers are essential for keeping grocery stores, retailers, gas stations, restaurants and other businesses stocked, especially during the pandemic. It is estimated that grocery stores would run out of food within three days if truckers stopped working.
