ジャーナリストの小林美希さんの著作『ルポ職場流産 雇用崩壊後の妊娠・出産・育児』(岩波書店)には、マタハラが原因で、あるいはマタハラをはねのけようとして、働く女性が職場や出張先などで流産を経験してしまった凄惨な事例がいくつも紹介されている。

 連合(日本労働組合総連合会)が2013年5月におこなった「マタニティ・ハラスメント(マタハラ)に関する意識調査」の結果は衝撃的だ。

 職場でマタハラをされた経験があるかという問いに対して、74.4%は「ない」と答えた。つまり、25.6%がマタハラを経験していて、これは連合が12年に行った調査での「セクハラされた経験」(17.0%)を大きく上回る。

 世間では広く認知されているセクハラよりも、マタハラの被害者のほうが割合が高いのである。調査の母集団も時期も異なるが、マタハラ経験者が少数派とは言えないことは確かだ。
