An investigation has been launched into the cases of the 18 Beirut slaughterhouse workers who were revealed to have been diagnosed with cancer, Lebanon’s Labor Ministry announced Thursday.

The announcement comes a day after Health Minister Wael Abu Faour told a televised news conference that "18 or 19" workers had been diagnosed with different types of cancers he believed were caused by their hazardous work conditions.
