Luis Electerio Mejía is an indigenous Tolupan leader and land rights defender from El Yoro, Honduras. On the night of 12 October, while Luis and his family were asleep in their home, five bullets were fired against the wall and door of his house. Since 2013, the community has allegedly been harrassed by the sugarcane company Azunosa, which has allegedly been purchasing lands from locals to improve corporate responsibility. Azunosa's response is available.
