Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Case Study: Providing access to primary education for the under-privileged girl children in India

The "Nanhi Kali" (Small Bud) project was conceived and developed for providing access to primary education for the under-privileged girl children in India...The scheme provides for creating a facility for educating such girl children in the country who would not otherwise get an opportunity to be educated...Under this project the Trust encourages community participation by running an advertisement campaign which solicits sponsorships from the general public. The entire revenue received from the sponsors is passed on to the selected NGO[s who work to ensure that under-privileged girls both from urban and rural areas are able to attend primary school]...The credibility of the company-operated Trust in the community has resulted in sponsorships that have enabled the covering of over 1,700 underprivileged girls under this project.
