Malawi villagers take Mota Engil to court; claim company acquired their land without adequate compensation

Malawians from Kauzu village…have dragged…Mota Engil to court for not giving them land compensation on the…[land it] intends to have a dry port in Liwonde township.

According to….[Nickson Masiku, the lawyer for the residents], the company has [only given compensation] for houses and trees. He further said some people are living in misery following the project as they were given less than K 100,000 as compensation.
