Marketing Executive at Sedex

Brief summary of role:

This role is split 50/50 between Sedex and AIM-PROGRESS. At Sedex core responsibilities will include supporting marketing communications, events and website/social media updates. At AIM-PROGRESS responsibilities will include work stream and project management; website updates; communications; engaging with new and existing members - and other stakeholders - in a consistent and highly visible way.

This role is an excellent springboard into a career in CSR project management and communications, offering visibility into organisations throughout the supply chain (the 38,000 Sedex members) and an opportunity to work closely with numerous major brands and suppliers (the AIM-PROGRESS membership).

Key responsibilities



  • Support Sedex Marketing Coordinator and Sedex Marketing Communications Manager in PR and media relations, maintaining press database and identifying new PR opportunities
  • Draft content for member and non-member communications (e.g. Newsletter, member updates, press releases, blogs)
  • Manage the distribution of Sedex communications to members / non-members using email marketing software (Mailchimp)
  • Update website content
  • Manage the translation of Sedex communications and materials
  • Draft monthly comms team updates to promote team activities internally within Sedex
  • Track the global growth of Sedex membership, adding new members to the website
  • Maintain and update Sedex social media channels on a daily basis

Event Management

  • Work with the wider team to deliver the annual Sedex Conference
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of additional events
  • Identify and support external event partnership opportunities to promote Sedex or access free event tickets


Member outreach

  • Build relationships with AIM-PROGRESS members to maximise levels of participation in events and work stream deliverables
  • Respond to miscellaneous enquiries from members and other interested parties and engage where appropriate
  • Manage AIM-PROGRESS website and newsletter
  • Maintain the contact list (email & website)
  • Support AIM Senior Sustainability & Supply Chain Manager in administrative tasks
  • Support the AIM-PROGRESS leadership team with presentations for public speaking events, liaison with other organisations and arrangements for taskforce meetings
  • Create, conduct and communicate annual and ad-hoc membership surveys


Work stream and Project Management

  • Work closely with work stream and project leaders to deliver relevant outputs
  • Arrange regular work stream calls and take minutes
  • Help to develop a calendar of key supplier events and successfully manage delivery of these with sponsoring companies - including participant registration, preparation, attendance monitoring and post event follow-up
  • Help create standard AIM-PROGRESS material for use at supplier events and conferences
  • Create internal AIM-PROGRESS materials for use by members
  • Data sharing and annual benchmarking using excel and survey tools

Skills & Experience

• Experience of working in a marketing and/or PR role

• Knowledge and interest in corporate social responsibility

• Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent attention to detail

• Experience of website management • Knowledge of social media networks

• Team-player who is comfortable working in a small business environment where flexibility is required

Whilst not key criteria the following would be desirable:

• Experience in working with supply chains

• Experience in event management

• Language capabilities (in addition to English)

• Knowledge of working with a membership organisation

• Desktop Publishing / Graphic design capabilities (e.g. Piktochart or InDesign)
