Mining company Minera Aguilar and the Argentinean dictatorship

ECCHR has presented today an amicus curiae brief in the case of “Bazán, Avelino and others” to the Federal Court No. 2 of Jujuy, located in the northwestern part of Argentina. In this case, crimes committed during the last military dictatorship (1976-1983) against 27 workers of the mining company Minera Aguilar S.A. are being investigated. ECCHR is requesting the Court to investigate the complicity of the company in these crimes. The company, through its mangers, had provided a list with employees’ names to the state security forces for their detention roundups. Furthermore, company vehicles were used for the detention of its employees; these are some of the indications for its presumed complicity.
