Patricia Carrier, Modern Slavery Registry project manager, said: “This Review highlights the urgent need for action to protect the most vulnerable from modern slavery.

“The Modern Slavery Registry welcomes the Independent Review’s recommendations, many of which we have long called for, including the creation of a government-run registry of company modern slavery statements. We urge the government to act on these recommendations. 

“The government could also go further and introduce mandatory human rights due diligence, so companies are required by law to actively tackle the risk of modern slavery in their supply chains.”
