Muni contractor settles suit [USA]

A contractor for San Francisco's Municipal Railway will pay a $37,000 settlement to a Chinese American welder who said he suffered daily racial slurs and harassment from a foreman and was fired after he complained, a federal civil rights agency said...The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed suit in July accusing Cadit Co. of violating federal law by allowing the foreman to harass Ru Jian Lin and by retaliating against him for reporting the harassment...When the suit was filed, the company's lawyers said the complaint was fabricated...Thursday's settlement...contains no admission of wrongdoing but requires measures to prevent harassment.
