Companies that could not reach an agreement with their workers on the terms of the working conditions, amid the escalating COVID-19 pandemic, will have to shut down, a senior regional official said....

Daw Moe Moe Su Kyi, regional minister for immigration and human resources...said in a statement this is not the right time to take advantage of each other, noting that what is important is the safety of everybody. [...]

"They (workers) should be given more leaves," she said. "They should be given hostel fees and food allowance."

"The owners have a great deal of negotiations to do and they need to discuss these with the workers' representatives," she added.

Yangon government records showed there are 6632 factories and companies operating in the region, employing over 680,000 workers.

All of them have to abide by the instructions of the health ministry on measures to prevent COVID-19.
