Namibia: 48 Sikondo workers hospitalised after allegedly drinking contaminated water

The 48 workers were taken to the Rundu State Hospital after…vomitting and lying prostrate…in the field…[P]roject manager at Sikondo, Maxwell Nghidinwa, said he and…the…management team received a report…that…workers were…sickly…“Upon our arrival at the scene…we immediately called an ambulance…” he said…Although it is unclear at this stage what…caused the sickness, speculation is rife that the water the workers drank may have been contaminated. “…[W]e are waiting for the Namibian Institute Of Pathology…to do some tests…” Nghidinwa added. All the workers spent the night in hospital and are now said to be out of danger and in a stable condition.
