Nevada mercury emissions could threaten Idaho ecology [USA]

The Jerritt Canyon Mine, [owned by Yukon Nevada Gold]…is under scrutiny for pumping nearly 10,000 pounds of mercury into the air every year - while claiming it was emitting just a fraction of that…"It's something that effects Idahoans lives, it effects their health, it effects our future and our kids," said Jonathan Oppenheimer with the Idaho Conservation League. [O]fficial tests commissioned by the State of Nevada…“indicates that Jerritt Canyon is emitting far more mercury than they were reporting," said Jim Werntz with the Environmental Protection Agency…Queenstake Resources [now Yukon Nevada Gold] says "The recent assertions by the Idaho Conservation League are without basis and are false."
