The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre is at a critical point in its development. Our digital platform is home to a wealth of information on business and human rights, but hasn’t had a visual refresh for a number of years.

New Sector Study: Global Metals and Mining Study

...Dutch Sustainability Research (DSR) recently finished researching the global metals and mining industry. Companies analyzed include Alcan, Alcoa, Anglo American, Arcelor, BHP Billiton, JFE Holding, Newmont Mining, Rio Tinto, ThyssenKrupp, and Umicore...According to DSR, from a strict sustainable perspective, none of the ten companies analyzed would be eligible for socially responsible investments...However, compared to other industries, companies in this sector have rather comprehensive environmental and social policies and management programs.
