Nigeria: Bus company, LAGBUS, recruits and trains its first ever cohort of female drivers

"LAGBUS recruits, trains female drivers". 27 Aug 2014: LAGBUS...a...bus service company...in Lagos State, has commenced the recruitment and training of the first set of female drivers of the company. Speaking at the training centre...Bus Captain...Mr. Babatunde Shoderu, said...“LAGBUS is an equal opportunity employer, we believe that [women]...should also be given the opportunity to serve...society. We are prepared to commit a huge investment into [the] selection and training of these females as some of them have no prior driving skill, by giving them the opportunity to attend an all-expense paid training...after which they will be...employed,” he said. One of the trainee drivers, Joseph Rose, expressed her happiness...[to be a] part of the training...[and] said she...is confident that at the end of the training she would be able to drive the LAGBUS buses safely.
