"Unprecedented" in History of Student Activism - Six Nobel Peace Prize Laureates have written an open letter to the University of Virginia Board of Visitors calling on the administration to divest its holding in Unocal, a California-based oil company. The letter supports a resolution passed by the UVA Student Council last March and a subsequent resolution on September 18th both of which called for the UVA Board of Visitors to divest the University’s 50,000 shares of stock in Unocal on account of the company’s complicity in human rights abuses in Burma.
