Hello! Welcome to the Resource Centre.

We hope you find our free tools and resources useful. Did you know we also work directly with community advocates, providing them with the skills and resources to document corporate human rights abuses and effectively communicate with business?

This is only possible through generous donations from people like you.

Please consider supporting our work.

Thank you,
Phil Bloomer, Executive Director

[PDF] China en Birmania: La Creciente Participación de Multinacionales Chinas en los Sectores Hidroeléctricos, Mineros, de Petróleo y de Gas Natural de Birmania

Author: EarthRights International, Published on: 20 September 2008

EarthRights International (ERI) ha identificado por lo menos 69 multinacionales chinas involucradas en un mínimo de 90 proyectos relacionados con minas, con hidroeléctricas, y con extracción de petróleo y gas en Birmania… En su intento por obtener los recursos naturales de Birmania, China le ha proporcionado a este país apoyo político, armamento militar y soporte financiero en forma de préstamos sin condiciones… Inversiones en el sector de energía birmano proporcionan billones de dólares en apoyo financiero a la junta militar, la cual destina al menos el 40% de su presupuesto al gasto militar, mientras que dedica solamente un poco mas del 1% a la salud y alrededor de un 5% a la educación pública… Según el vocero de China National Offshore Oil Co. (CNOOC), la cual tiene intereses en varios lotes de petróleo y gas natural en Birmania: “Nosotros en el negocio del petróleo no tenemos otra alternativa más, que ir a los lugares donde se encuentra el petróleo… una compañía hace negocios para obtener ganancias y no para hacer política.” [se refiere a Central China Power Grid (CCPGC), Changjiang Geotechnical Engineering, Changjiang Institute of Surveying, Planning & Design Research, CHECC, Kunming Hydroelectric Investigation Design & Research Institute (KHIDI), CHECC, Mid-South Design & Research Institute, Chevron, China CAMC (Construction & Agricultural Machinery Import & Export Co) Engineering, China Datang, China Datang Yantan Hydropower, China Development Bank, China Export-Import (EXIM) Bank, China Gezhouba, China Gold Water Resources, China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering, China Hydropower Engineering Consulting (CHECC), China International Trust & Investment (CITIC), China National Electric Equipment (CNEEC), China National Heavy Machinery (CHMC), China National Oil & Gas Development (CNODC), China National Petroleum (CNPC), China Nonferrous Engineering & Research Institute, China Nonferrous Metal Mining (CNMC), China North Industries (NORINCO), China Oilfield Services (COSL), China Petroleum & Chemical (Sinopec), China Power Investment (CPI), China Shanghai (Group) for Foreign Economic & Technological Co-operation, China Southern Power Grid (CSG), China Three Gorges Project (CTGPC), Chinnery Assets, Farsighted, Gold Mountain (Hong Kong) International Mining, Golden Aaron, Guangdong New Technology Import Export Zhuhai, Guangxi Electric Power Industry Investigation Design & Research Institute, Hanergy Holding (formerly China Farsighted Investment), Hatch, Hunan Savoo Oversea Water & Electric Engineering, Ivanhoe Mines, Jiangsu Pengfei, Jiangxi Water Programming & Design Institute, Kai Er, Kingbao (Jinbao) Mining, Kunming Electric Machinery, Myanmar Oil & Gas Enterprise (MOGE), Ningbo Huyong Electric Power Material, PetroChina, Shenzhen Menglong Import & Export, Shweli River I Power Station, Sichuan Machinery & Equipment Import & Export (SMEC), Sinohydro International, Sinopec, State Grid Corporation of China, Tianjing ALSTOM Hydro [part of Alstom], Total, Wanbao Mining, Yunnan Electric Power Design Institute, Yunnan Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Development (part of China Huaneng), Yunnan Joint Power Development (YUPD), Yunnan Machinery & Equipment Import & Export (YMEC), Yunnan Power Grid, Zhejiang Orient Holding, Zijing Mining.]
