Oil company must apologise for Bohai spill [China]

The agency in charge of maritime resources has ordered ConocoPhillips China to apologise for failing to contain an oil spill in the Bohai Sea, and accused the company of taking advantage of lenient regulations...The company missed an August 7 deadline to clean up all oil-contaminated mud from sea floor…"The company is well aware of Chinese laws and regulations under which it won't be severely punished for its inaction and cover-up," the SOA official said…ConocoPhillips China spokeswoman Donna Xue said yesterday that the company would not comment further but would respond to the SOA order for an apology in a timely manner...
