Papua New Guinea: 119 sexual abuse survivors seek “fair and equal” compensation under Barrick’s remediation program; Barrick responds

119 indigenous women, all sexual abuse survivors who received compensation under Barrick’s Porgera Remediation Framework, sought the intervention of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights in their appeal for compensation equal to that received by other survivors involved in a legal settlement. In its response, Barrick cited a 2015 review of the framework which concluded that the remedies provided were “appropriate, equitable and generous.” Details below.
