[PDF] Corporate Legal Accountability Annual Briefing
This briefing provides an overview of corporate legal accountability for human rights, summarising key trends and referring primarily to developments since our second Annual Briefing in November 2013. It provides information about human rights lawsuits against companies for lawyers and non-lawyers – victims, advocates, NGOs, business people and others...The ability to hold a company legally accountable for human rights abuses, somewhere in the world, is the lynchpin to encourage business to respect human rights. Without legal remedy to enforce human rights obligations, companies are able to operate with impunity – and too many do. Meanwhile, victims of abuse and the advocates working on their behalf are left vulnerable to legal harassment and, ultimately, without justice.
