IPIECA, the global oil and gas industry association for environmental and social issues, was pleased to participate in the European Commission Roundtable on business and human rights on 1 June…IPIECA representatives contributed their views on the draft document prepared by the Institute for Human Rights and Business and SHIFT…based on their collective experience on implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human rights (UN GPs). “IPIECA is developing practical, experience-based guidance on human rights due diligence and grievance mechanisms. It’s important that our work and the work of the Commission be aligned. We believe this is best achieved by treating the UN GPs as an engagement mechanism to share learning, innovation, and technical knowledge across a broad spectrum of stakeholders,” emphasised Tam Nguyen from Chevron, and Chair of the IPIECA Human Rights Task Force
