[PDF] More transparency at last?! BD Analysis of the Swiss Federal Council’s “Background Report: Commodities”

Since 2011, when Berne Declaration published its in-depth research about Switzerland’s dominant role in the global commodity business, a broad public debate evolved in Switzerland. In 2012 the Swiss government decided to commission a review report on the sector, which was launched on March 27th 2013. While acknowledging the the whole range of risks highlighted by NGOs (e.g. regarding corruption or human rights abuses), the report fails to provide robust recommendations for political action.
