This Report summarizes the outcomes of the Conference ‚RIGHTS AND ACCOUNTABILITY: THE WAY AHEAD FOR BUSINESS AND HUMAN RIGHTS‚, which was held at the premises of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung...in Berlin on 21-22 November 2011. The Conference was organized by MISEREOR, the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights..., the FES, Germanwatch, and the German civil society networks Forum Human Rights and Corporate Accountability...Representatives from governments, civil society, trade unions, academia and the private sector discussed the implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, endorsed by the UN Human Rights Council in June 2011. The Conference was designed to discuss policy approaches to elaborate the state duty to protect human rights against corporate abuses, with a particular focus on the perspective of those affected by misconduct by transnational corporations and their access to remedy.
