The report shows that the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights has considered with growing frequency the issue of States Parties’ duties regarding corporate activities. The Committee's commentaries affirm that a State Party has a duty to rotect against interference with rights by corporations, at least in relation to violations affecting individuals within the State’s effective control. The Committee considers legislative, administrative, judicial and educative measures to be important tools in this respect. The report also identifies several areas that are central to the SRSG’s mandate and where further elaboration by the Committee could assist States, business enterprises and individuals to understand better their respective rights and obligations.
