...The images show a forest destroyed by gold mining. Mounds of earth and green water wells were captured by the drone of the inspectors of the Technical Forestry and Wildlife Administration (ATFFS) of Puerto Inca, Huánuco, when they came to attend to a complaint alerting about the presence of miners in the buffer area of the El Sira Communal Reserve....the inspection was carried out in response to a complaint filed by a group of people from Puerto Inca to complain about the harmful effects of gold mining in the area. "There is evidence that primary forest and water resources have been affected," he said...gold mining in the area is destroying primary forests, has affected the Pintuyacu and Quimpichari river basins, and also, the area of mining operation overlaps with part of the territory of the native community Tsirotzire...Although the area where the activity takes place is within the limits of a mining concession legally granted by the State to the Chinese citizen Bing Xiao He, the regional authorities warn that gold extraction is being carried out without the corresponding permits and that it has been detected that the volumes of extraction are greater than those that would be allowed in that concession...
