Peru: Indigenous people from the Amazon request hearing before the Supreme Court for a new consultation for the project Hidrovía

After discussions on the environmental impacts on the lives of the indigenous Amazon populations that the project (Amazon riverine highway) Hidrovía amazónica  brings with it (part of Sinohydro from China and Construcción y Administracción, CASA, from Peru), a public hearing was carried out before the Constitutional Room of the Supreme Court of Lima, where civil society delegates presented their arguments against the project, before which they demanded the implementation of a new prior, free and informed consultation, because impacts on the right to food, work and water, as well as the impacts that hidrovía would bring with it on climate change, that according to scientific studies, represent major alterations to the Amazon´s ecosystem, were not considered.
