[Excerpt translation from Spanish provided by Business and Human Rights Resource Centre]

In this instant, what is ONAMIAP accomplishing? They are accomplishing the informative phase of prior consultation from the Reglamento de la Ley Marco (Framework Law Regulation) over Climate Change. The workshop will take place in Cusco, but has been carried out in Pucallpa, Atalaya, Madre de Dios, Yurimaguas, Bagua; now they are in the Andean region of Cusco, and afterwards it will be carried out in Puno and Ayacucho…--With respect to the conflict in Las Bambas, although that happens in Apurímac, what is the position that Cusco’s farmers have?...—Cusco’s farmer’s opinion is that the topic of Las Bambas [part of MMG, part of China Minmetals] can be generalized to the entire southern region. They want to prepare the region of Espinar and other townships that have contamination problems caused by large extractive companies.
