“Further IACHR appeal on behalf of Maxima Acuna” – 4 December 2017

The IACHR (Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, Spanish acronym CIDH) is being asked to intervene once again in the case of Máxima Acuña. Senora Acuña is the by now well-known peasant farmer from Tragadero Grande, Cajamarca, who has been struggling to defend her own and her community's land against the Yanacocha Mining Company [joint venture Buenaventura & Newmont]…The NGOs Grufides and Demus are now presenting a new case on behalf of Acuña in the IACHR. The case calls for a recommendation to the Peruvian state, under Peru's Law 30364, on violence against women and their family members.
