A special Momentum for Change event provided a platform for Philips Lighting to demonstrate how smart energy solutions work and how they are making a real difference on climate change…According to Eric Ronolat, CEO of Philips Lighting, the energy and greenhouse gas saving potential of this one single technology are huge, with the potential to reduce by half the energy demand from lighting…According to Philips, doubling the rate of energy efficiency improvement to 3% will unlock significant economic benefits: 6 million new jobs by 2020; €2300 billion reduction in fuel costs by 2030; reduction of household energy bills by one-third. Akon, International music star and Co-Founder of Akon Lighting Africa, also spoke at the event. Akon Lighting Africa…aims to develop an innovative solar-powered solution that will provide African villages with access to a clean and affordable source of electricity.
