As the only UK organisation that participated in its development, ITDG welcomes the recommendation in today’s report from the World Commission on Dams (WCD) that large dam projects should only be approved where they demonstrably meet the goal of human development - and that alternatives including decentralised energy schemes should be considered from the start.
