Program Specialist: Capacity Building and Continuous Improvement (CBCI)

  • A bachelor’s degree with a focus on international relations, qualitative or quantitative research, project management, business, supply chain or other related disciplines. Social auditing experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment. Willingness to work outside local time zones, and travel, as needed.

Under general supervision, manages execution and completion of Capacity Building and Continuous Improvement (CBCI) projects for UL’s Responsible Sourcing group. Services focus on systematic remediation and prevention of labor issues in the supply chain.

Supports the commercial team in selling products and services within CBCI. Through direct client interaction, will assist with project scoping such as time, pricing, and key deliverables. Enhances existing and develops new policies, processes and procedures for project-based services. May assist in the day-to-day supervision of a regional team of Field Specialists and/or a project team to deliver CBCI projects and services.

Job Description:

  1. Directly liaise with clients and UL sales team to consultatively sell CBCI services.
  2. Manage CBCI projects from inception to closure including: client sales, project scoping, pricing, resource planning, execution, budget tracking, client billing, and final reporting.
  3. Identify and implement process improvements in existing CBCI services. Innovate new services for remediation and continuous improvement within the responsible sourcing business, following a structured service development process.
  4. May supervise CBCI field specialist team to deliver projects and services.
  5. Train and develop UL personnel to ensure consistent service delivery across geographic regions and functional groups.
  6. Deliver on-site and remote CBCI services, trainings, and other consultations.
  7. Perform other duties as directed.

Job Requirements:

  • University degree with a focus on international relations, qualitative or quantitative research, project management, business, supply chain or other related disciplines. Social auditing experience preferred.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to identify and manage priorities as demonstrated by the ability to establish, track, and meet schedules for multiple projects while maintaining project quality.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, negotiate and influence outcomes with both internal teams and clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment. Willingness to work outside local time zones, and travel, as needed.
  • Proficiency in Internet research, Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Outlook.
