Project Assistant at International Code of Conduct Association

Overview
The International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Provider’s Association (ICoCA), founded in September 2013, is a multi-stakeholder initiative created to promote, govern and oversee the implementation of a Code of Conduct for private security companies that operate in challenging environments where the rule of law is weak. The objective of the Code is to raise industry standards and promote increased respect for human rights and humanitarian law throughout the industry. The ICoCA’s members include states, industry (private security companies) and civil society organisations. Together, these three ‘pillars’ form the Association’s General Assembly. The ICoCA Secretariat, based in Geneva, Switzerland, carries out the Association’s principal implementation and oversight functions, including certification and monitoring of member company operations, under the supervision of its Board of Directors.

The Project Assistant will support the Certification Project Officer with the processing of requests by companies to become certified under the Code of Conduct. In addition, the Project Assistant will have an important role in executing the ICoCA’s communications strategy and will also assist the Operations Manager with administrative aspects of the day to day functioning of the ICoCA.

Responsibilities

Certification of Member Companies

 Support the Certification Project Officer in the processing of applications for ICoCA Certification and membership in the Association;

 Support the work of the Certification Project Officer and other members of the ICoCA Secretariat staff in analyzing data provided by members and prospective members to support Certification requests;

 Update data in the Membership Database;

 Other tasks as requested by the Certification Project Officer.

Communications

 Update and maintain the ICoCA website;

 Draft communication texts for different stakeholder groups (e.g., email communications, newsletters, blog contributions, etc...);

 Develop presentation materials, using PowerPoint and similar software;

 Day-to-day management of the mailboxes of the Association.

Administration

 Organize travel arrangements for the Secretariat;

 Assist in organising meetings and calls for the Board of Directors, the General Assembly and others as necessary, including logistics of meetings, proxy voting and travel arrangements of Board members and related experts;

 Other administrative tasks as requested by the Operations Manager.

Requirements

 Knowledge and experience working with business and human rights principles;

 Experience working with certification to national or international standards is a plus;

 Experience in marketing or communications;

 Strong working knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;

 An analytical mindset and excellent attention to detail;

 Customer service attitude;

 Able to multi-task and prioritise;

 Fluent English and French, another language would be an asset;

 Valid working permit for Switzerland or Swiss national.
