Report offers guidance on National Action Plans on Business and Human Rights for the tech sector

"The Tech Sector and National Action Plans on Business and Human Rights," 30 July 2020

This guidance document aims to assist state actors and other stakeholders in the development of National Action Plans on Business and Human Rights (NAPs) in the specific context of the tech sector. Jointly developed by Global Partners Digital and the Danish Institute for Human Rights, it offers tailored advice to states that are engaged in the process of developing NAPs.

..."The general understanding and awareness of human rights linked to digital technologies has been on the rise in the business sector...Nonetheless, the tech sector is addressed only in a very limited manner in existing National Action Plans on Business and Human Rights...There is, more broadly, a need for greater synergies between the business and human rights and the tech communities, as a crucial element for advancing the accountability of tech companies, and designing regulatory and policy frameworks which are fit for purpose and aligned with international human rights standards."
