Rio, Kenmare and Kumba Take Home Nedbank Green Mining Awards [Africa]

The winners of the fourth annual Nedbank Capital Green Mining Awards, which seek to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution that responsible mining and mineral beneficiation makes to the economic development of Africa, were announced last night... The winning projects are: - Environmental Category: Rio Tinto QIT Madagascar Minerals’ (QMM) Biodiversity and Sustainable Management Programme. - Socio-economic Category: Kenmare Resource’s Kenmare Moma Development Association; and Kumba Iron Ore Sishen Mine’s Zimele Small Business Hub The Joe Morolong Vocational Training Centre submitted by United Manganese of Kalahari (UMK) was a runner up in the Socio-economic category. There were no awards made in the Limited Resource and Sustainability Categories.
