Row over visit to new stadium [So. Africa]

Inspectors paid an unannounced visit to Durban’s 2010 [FIFA World Cup] stadium yesterday and found a lot of non-compliance with safety regulations...Siyanda Zondeki, the Labour Department’s deputy director-general of service delivery, said...“We found that scaffolding was not erected according to safety regulations and was a danger to workers."...Zondeki said that between April last year and July this year...16 workers had died as a result of falling from extreme heights, or the collapse of structures.
