Saudi Arabia: Musalli Gold withholds wages, passports and food from 21 Indian workers

In October 2019, 21 goldsmiths employed by Musalli Gold in Saudi Arabia released a video on social media pleading with their government and activists to help them. The men had been stranded in the country for up to two years, faced wage delays for several months and their food allowance from the company was stopped. The company also withheld their passports, their visas expired and were not renewed and the men were not granted exit permits to leave the country.

The company initially did not respond to the men's letter or the video. Later they replied to state that they owed 29 years worth of tax to the government and that the men would have to wait until the debt was cleared. Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Musalli Gold to respond to the allegations; they did not respond.
